Chronic Ear Infections
What is a Chronic Ear Infection?
For many children, it can become a chronic problem, requiring treatment year after year and increasing the risk of permanent hearing damage or speech problems. The symptoms of Otitis media typically include ear pain, fever and irritability, often exasperated when laying down or sleeping. If you look into the ear of a child who has Otitis media, you may be able to see a buildup of fluid behind the ear drum, and the inside of the ear will appear inflamed.
Our expert chiropractors in Crystal Lake are trained to treat Otitis media and rid you of your chronic ear infection. Contact us today to begin your ear infection treatment.
Otitis media may be caused by either a bacterial or viral infection resulting from another illness such as a cold. Research shows that upper respiratory infections, including Otitis media, also can be caused by improper drainage of the deep neck lymphatics. Chiropractic theory suggests that there is a strong link between the birthing process and recurrent ear infections. During the birth, the cervical vertebra (or bones in the neck) are often stressed and can become misaligned causing pressure on the associated structures, specifically the Eustachian tube
A pediatric visit to our clinic may consist of a discussion between on of our doctors and the caregiver about the child’s health history and symptoms followed by comprehensive chiropractic examination. If the doctor discovers spinal vertebra that are either slightly out of alignment or are not moving within their normal range, a short course of spinal adjustment and manipulation of the neck muscles can help restore normal lymph drainage and end the cycle of ear pain and infections.
