Are you suffering and in pain? Do you feel tired all the time? Is it hard to concentrate or sleep? Millions of Americans suffer from chronic back pain at least once in their lifetime. One in four people watching this are trying to cope with back pain right now – the bottom line? Pain disrupts our lives stopping us from doing what we love most; being active, spending time with family and friends. Most painful conditions worsen if left undiagnosed or neglected. There is help at Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic. The doctors at Strelcheck are experienced at using effective and gentle chiropractic techniques to treat a variety of painful conditions such as low back pain, numbness in the arms, legs or hands, neck stiffness and migraine headaches. Hundreds of people have relied on the doctors at Strelcheck to keep their families healthy, active and together for 50 years. Dr. Strelcheck: Hello, I am Dr. Dan Strelcheck. I’m a chiropractor. I have been here in Crystal Lake since 1958 and it’s been a wonderful journey through all these years. I don’t know where they went but it sure has been fun. Dr. Daniel: Hi, I am Dr. Daniel Strelcheck. My father started the clinic 50 years ago. It’s been great working with him and I have been able to learn from him firsthand. We have been practicing together now for 11 years. Dr. Norton: My name is Dr. Peter Norton. I am the senior associate chiropractor here at Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic. The most important cases to me are like cases of patients with more chronic issues; those with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, severe migraine, TMJ and headaches. Those are the patients that I like to see and are absolutely the ones that respond beautifully to what I do. Speaker: Everybody needs help when they have a problem no matter how old or how young. There is a way that usually you can give them some type of relief. If we cannot do it then the most important thing is to get them to somebody that you believe that can. Ryan: My name is Ryan Johnson; I am the head of the massage department. With the chiropractic what we do is we actually try to release the tension from the muscles that are pulling the bones out of place and we also can help hold the adjustments by after the adjustments have been done by the doctor we can also take more and more tension and also increase the blood flow to help the healing process for the patient. Speaker: I am always excited to see and meet new people and after we do a thorough exam and x-rays we know if we can help the person. Over the last 50 years we have been able to see many, many persons and families benefit greatly from our care and that’s a true joy in our lives. Announcer: The best patient care takes a combination of experience, skill and judgment. Our doctors take the time to listen to you so we can work with you to feel great again and we are always charting a course for improvement by staying on top of the latest treatment methods to help common and chronic health problems. As we continue to learn, we take a leadership role in the community. Speaker: Well, the community has been supporting us for 50 years. As you know we are celebrating our 50th year and so we feel very obligated and we feel very motivated to support our community. Announcer: Sharing health tips and information. Speaker: We are excited about a little project that right now we are calling the chiro-minute and that is where we are going to take very specific conditions and we are going to try to expand the horizon of what the public knows and thinks a chiropractor can do. Announcer: As well as hands-on treatment and care. And our results show one after another satisfied patients extend the trust that they have placed in us by sharing our names with friends and family. Speaker: I have referred probably 20 patients. It never fails them when I am in here, I don’t run into somebody that I’ve referred to or somebody from our community and I’ve got to know the staff very well over the years and everybody here is fantastic. Speaker: Just from walking in the door I love it here. Strelcheck has been wonderful. It’s like a family. Speaker: I keep coming back for one reason and only because there is results after every single time he takes care of me. If it’s not immediate it’s within hours after I leave here I feel the relief of whatever he has treated me for and I will continue coming back to him because I know I can get better. Speaker: They are very warm here, family oriented. You feel so comfortable just coming here. Speaker: I was working as a mechanic and I got caught underneath a dash of a car and I couldn’t get straightened out so we went out to Dr. Dan and he straightened me out and I have been with them ever since. Speaker: I have been a patient here at Strelcheck simply because I feel very comfortable, they take care of all the problems and issues I do have come in and they treat me very nice and I feel very comfortable here and would recommend highly anybody else that would be interested in coming. Announcer: Get back to your life and the people you love. Feel great again. Call Strelcheck chiropractic clinic.

Strelcheck Chiropractic Clients, The Champa Family, Crystal Lake IL

Dave: We are the Champa family. I am Dave, this is Cindy and this is Emily and we have three other daughters as well. Well, being an ex-athlete I had plenty of symptoms. When I came here I had massive headaches and went through a whole routine with medical doctors and so trying to figure out what it was and so I had a lot of good reasons to come here. I have been coming here for a little over two years now and my main reason when I came here was I had issues medically that I was having them evaluate like headaches and backaches. I was going to a chiropractic clinic in another location for years, for almost 20 years. After he took x-rays and we found out what I was looking like after 20 years of going to somebody else it was very embarrassing. And so he took initiative and we had a plan we put together and things had worked out great after the first couple of visits; things were better than they were after going therefore 20 years. Cindy: Yeah, it’s been working great. I have been coming here for about six months. I am the last of the client to come here. I am a runner and about seven years ago I fell off a ladder, sprained my ankle and really never did anything about it but it just wasn’t quite right and came in, had some x-rays; my ankle, my hip, my neck; so Dr. Dan is great. It feels better than ever. Emily: I have a gallbladder problem and I have been coming here for a year. Dave: He gave us some techniques how to help it out and he treated her and some pressure points and we work on them as much as we can and she has gotten better because of it. Cindy: Yeah, they make you feel right at home. You are at ease when you come here. Dave: I keep coming back for one reason and only because there is results after every single time he takes care of me. If it’s not immediate it’s within hours after I leave here I feel the relief of whatever he has treated me for and I will continue coming back just because I know I can get better.

Silver Solutions Radio|Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic

Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic was recently invited to be interviewed by Silver Solutions Radio. Here is a link to the interview. Here is a full transcript of the interview! Jeanette:                Good morning everyone, welcome to Silver Solutions Radio your show for living long and aging strong. We’re bringing you this show because we’re passionate about helping people; especially seniors and the disabled. Good morning, I am Jeanette Palmer and am joined by my cohosts Kathy Waters and Jim O Janowski. … Our guest today is Dr. Daniel Strelcheck Junior of Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic in Crystal Lake and welcome Dr. Strelcheck. We’re going to call you Dr. Dan for the rest of the show because it’s hard to say Strelcheck. Dr. Dan:                 Alright, Oh perfect. Jeanette:              Thanks for being a guest on the show today. Dr. Dan:                 My pleasure. Jeanette:              I saw on the Internet that Strelcheck Chiropractic, in 2008, celebrated 50 years for serving the community. Clearly you didn’t start the practice. Dr. Dan:                 Correct. My father started in it 1958 and I took it over in 1998 and we have been helping better Crystal Lake in McKinley County area for all of the time. Jim:                           Dr. Dan, how many total years has the Strelcheck Chiropractic being serving the community? Dr. Dan:                 57, we are about to start our 58th, yeah. Jim:                           Okay, so 57 years, that is absolutely awesome. Dr. Dan:                 It’s been really our pleasure. Our communities have supported us so well and we just love them. Jeanette:              I know you have a beautiful facility. I have seen it when I have been on Route 14 in Crystal Lake, and a it is beautiful; and you recently opened a facility in Barrington? Dr. Dan:                 Yes we did. We joined the group over there in Smith building across from Good Shepherd Hospital; it’s in the same building with Lake Cook Orthopedics and Women’s Health so we’re excited about that. Jeanette:              Yeah, that’s a great spot for you and how it all goes together; that would be perfect. And then the commute wouldn’t be so far either so yeah, excellent. And so we know that chiropractic is helping with structure. We are primarily serving the elderly people and so all of the structure starts at an early age kind of like a tree. How do help people stay healthy? Dr. Dan:                 Well we have a big children’s practice because we know that the more things you correct when the child gets injured at the very early age from their falls. Just typical smash their bike into a tree kind of stuff, football and athletics seem to be a big cause for injuries and misalignments. Jim:                           True; golf would be another one. Dr. Dan:                 Yeah but I love golf. The more things that you align properly as far as the joints of the body, the spine or your shoulder, elbow, knee, the less arthritis or wear-and-tear that you will have when you’re older. So we can still slow that process down even at an elderly age and by aligning the joint, it also then lubricates better with movement. It’s a very common knowledge that movement helps heart rate is in the elderly but if the line or joint is not aligned properly then it doesn’t lubricate as well it’s like the front end of your car; if it’s misaligned it’s not going to go down the road street. Jim:                           Absolutely true! Jeanette:              And I know too you had mentioned that you have a large practice serving children and for instance my grandson’s ankles are not straight and I know that when my children were small, I had them in leather shoes that would hold the ankles straight to try and get them to line up and I don’t think that the shoes are doing that anymore, it’s not common knowledge or they are not even making those shoes that use to see bronzed when we were children and so I think that they are being more need for our children to visit you to become aligned. Dr. Dan:                 I think you are very astute with that Jeanette. We see a big trend in sandals quite honestly and sandals virtually don’t have any support even the ones with the strap behind the back of the heel, it’s still not like wearing a nice solid shoe like you are describing or a tennis shoe even is pretty good so we’re certainly trying to get all of our kids into more sturdy shoes. Jeanette:              Yeah and then to for the adults with back problems and things like that, the shoes again help to keep the spine aligned and the hips aligned so that there isn’t as much pain or arthritis because everything is aligned. And so do you have orthotics too in your practice? Dr. Dan:                 Yes we do. My partner Dr. Pete, we made sure that he got some advanced training in orthotics and so he has been doing all of the foot orthotics and the moldings for the last 10 years for us. Jeanette:              And does insurance help pay for that? Dr. Dan:                 Most insurances do. I am sad to say that Medicare is not in so that’s one of the things that Medicare doesn’t pay for through a chiropractor but maybe a podiatrist, you can receive orthotics so I would suggest most Medicare patients see a podiatrist considering their orthotics. Jeanette:              That’s another crazy thing that Medicare doesn’t cover because it keeps a person healthy and it is preventative versus reactionary. Dr. Dan:                 Yeah, I agree with that. But you know what? We have found that our public sees value and wherever they see value then they will spend the money. Jim:                           No doubt. Dr. Dan:                 Everybody works hard for their money and we believe that if you really give them a good bang for their buck, value, that they will see it and they will spend the money. Jeanette:              Yeah. As small business owners we strive to provide value

Lifelong Health

You’ve just had your first baby. All 10 fingers and 10 toes joyfully counted. Becoming a parent is a life-changing event and perhaps the single greatest responsibility you might ever have. By design, this triggers one of the most powerful human instincts — the overwhelming desire to protect your child. Through the years, I’ve learned family health care choices are often driven by cost and further influenced by the experiences of those around us and our belief systems. Simply put, if you believe “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” then you might take the wellness route for your family. Whereas if the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” adage suits you better, you’ll only be making doctor visits when you can no longer cope with symptoms. Whichever you choose, health care and wellness options for children run the gamut. Consider the upsurge in both pediatric medical specialties and health information resources during the last two decades. While helpful, they also have created some confusion about what is best, dangerous or optional. One aspect of health care that hasn’t changed is the need to establish two of your child’s primary health care professionals, starting at birth. Ideally, those relationships will be long-term, so ask around, do your homework and trust your instincts. A general pediatrician is central to your child’s health from 0 to 18 years of age. General pediatricians manage children with chronic conditions such as asthma, perform annual school physicals, oversee childhood immunizations, conduct developmental screenings and administer acute care. A chiropractor is the other primary health care professional to establish for your child early on in life. In fact, a growing number of mothers receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy to help maintain energy and reduce a variety of discomforts. While your child’s health care will transition from a pediatrician to a general practitioner after age 18, some people have the same chiropractor throughout their lifetime. The chiropractic approach to health centers on the detection and correction of misalignments of the spinal column, which is made up of bony vertebral segments that are stacked on top of each other, forming the spine. If there is any doubt about the correlation between the nervous system, spinal column and optimal health, consider what happens if any segment of the spine is damaged or injured. From the point of injury and below, the spinal cord nerves cannot send messages between the brain and parts of the body like they did before the injury, resulting in functional disorders of organs, limbs and major systems. Start Early Children are unique creatures, with ever-changing physiology. What was a health issue last year is no longer on the radar screen, as it is replaced by something new. Each stage of their life offers unique opportunities to keep them healthy with chiropractic care, starting at birth. During the delivery process, any twisting, pushing or pulling on the baby’s head, neck, shoulders or hips can cause subluxations or trauma to any segment of the spinal column. That increases the chance for damage to the infant’s spine and nervous system. Many of those traumas go undetected until symptoms and conditions occur later on such as colic, ear infections, eating and digestion. An infant’s spine will grow 50 percent in length during the first year of life, a rate unmatched at any other phase in a child’s growth and development. Checking a child’s spine is vital to ensure small, easily reversible subluxations are corrected before they present health issues down the road. By age 6, all motor and sensory functions we use as adults are already fully developed. Therefore, damage at any stage prior to the preliminary development of those functions will inhibit optimal capability for the rest of a child’s life. When a doctor really knows your child — not just his or her complete medical history, but his or her temperament, personality, how he or she reacts to pain and even what your child is like at school and at home — it helps the doctor pinpoint health problems. The advantages of establishing your child’s primary health care professionals early on are ones that are built through many years of seeing a pediatric and trust.
